Is Homosexuality a Sin?
Is homosexuality a sin? That's the question Michael Brandon sets out to set the record straight on with his new online initiative, a part of the website Prayers for Special Help. A web publisher and entrepreneur currently residing in Boston, Massachusetts, Michael was raised in the Episcopal church, and believes the Bible should not be used to justify prejudice. In this exclusive interview with Liberty Education Forum, Michael tells us more about his project, fighting religion-based bigotry and what he's doing to connect with the people who need to hear his message the most.
Tell us about "Prayers for Special Help" -- and how "Is Homosexuality a Sin?" relates to your work.
I took over "Prayers for Special Help" form the original owner in 2010. It was a smaller site at the time, and had yet to attract a larger audience. I added the ability to publish public prayer requests and the site ballooned quite quickly, and is now one of the larger prayer communities on the internet. "Is Homosexuality a Sin" is the first of a series of articles [on the site] that aim to answer Biblical questions in a more progressive and inclusive manner...

The new year has barely begun and already marriage equality measures are gaining momentum throughout the country -- and in some unexpected places.
Just weeks after four major referendum victories for the freedom to marry in which voters in Maryland, Maine and Washington State cast ballots supporting the rights of gay couples to enter into civil marriages and voters in Minnesota shunned a proposed amendment to the state constitution that would have prevented same-sex marriages, Illinois emerged as the likely next state to approve civil marriages for committed gay and lesbian couples by legislative vote.
